What is required for me to be tattooed in your studio?

You must be 18 years of age or older and present a physical form of state or federal government issued identification such as a Driver’s license, walker’s ID or passport.

Can someone under the age of 18 get tattooed with parents’ consent?

I do not tattoo anyone under the age of 18, even with parental consent. You must also be 18 years of age to come in for a consultation. Some of the other artists with whom I work will tattoo minors with parental consent and I am happy to recommend you to them for your tattooing needs.

Do you take walk-ins?

I do not take walk-ins. All tattoo work is by appointment only.

How do I make an appointment?

Please contact me via email (OddAngelLLC @ gmail) or through my booking form (link in the menu bar) to set up a consultation. Consultations are required before an appointment for your tattoo can be scheduled.

I am generally able to reply to email within one to two business days, so please be patient. You will absolutely hear back from me or someone affiliated with the studio to get you on the schedule as soon as possible.

In your email, please be sure to include your name, phone number, your email (again) and a detailed description of what you are interested in having done. Please include any photos or links you wish to use as reference. Pinterest boards are handy for this purpose. My Pinterest username is theoddangel and you can send a folder to my account labeled “My Tattoo Ideas”.

What is a consultation and what should I expect?

A consultations is an initial face-to-face meeting with me to go over the process of designing, creating and applying your tattoo. This is the time to put any and all ideas on the table to be brainstormed and tweaked. I will let you know what is possible within the scope of the art form and make recommendations regarding size, design and placement with the goal of meeting your wants and needs in the best manner possible. We will go over the aftercare needed for your new tattoo and discuss potential risks to healing present in your daily life, as well as how to avoid or eliminate them during your healing process. We will also discuss any physical limitations or health concerns you may have and how, if at all, those will affect your healing process.

Consultations are always free. If, following the consultation, you wish to book an appointment you will be asked to pay a retainer of $180 to hold your appointment time. The retainer will be applied toward the total price of your tattoo. If your tattoo requires multiple sessions to complete, the retainer will be applied toward the final session.

The retainer is non-refundable.

The retainer is non-transferrable.

I do not send out artwork prior to appointments. I really need your initial and instinctual reaction to the work, rather than the considerable and varied opinions of well-meaning family and friends. If you wish to change any aspect of the design when you arrive for your appointment, that is absolutely fine and I am happy to do so. I include time for such things in our first session together.

If you need to reschedule you must do it within 48 hours. If you do not give 48 hours advance notice, or decide to cancel your appointment for any reason then the retainer becomes a “kill fee” and is compensation for the time that cannot be filled on short notice.

Is tipping allowed? How do I know how much to tip?

Tipping is never mandatory but always appreciated. If I helped make your experience good, memorable, comfortable and easy, please do let me know. If you are not comfortable tipping, please consider leaving a review on Google or writing a testimonial for my website. Tipping in cash is genuinely appreciated.

Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?

I kindly and respectfully ask that you come to your consultations and appointment by yourself. Due to safety reasons and fire codes most shops are very limited in the number of people permitted in work spaces. Some shops have different policies with regard to this, but it is always best to plan for your tattoo experience to be yours and no one else’s. In particular, please do not bring infants, children or teenagers to your appointment. It is a lot to ask for any child or teen to spend two or more hours sitting quietly in a space where there is literally nothing for them to do.

Will you tattoo anything I want?

I do not offer cosmetic tattooing, but will happily make recommendations for artists who do.

I will NOT tattoo the following:

Palms of hands

Bottoms or arches of feet

Ear lobes or Cartilage

White ink tattoos

If you are not visibly and heavily tattooed I will not tattoo visible areas on necks, hands or faces. Please don’t even ask.

Why won’t you just do what I want?

I am in no way telling you what you can and cannot do with you body and skin. What I am telling you is what I am comfortable and not comfortable doing. Please know that my refusal to do any of the above comes from a place of considerable experience getting, healing, applying and moving through the world with tattoos and does not reflect any sort of negative opinion on my part about your choices. These are hard lines I will not cross and I thank you in advance for your understanding.
